Elizabeth’s Quilt

Hello Sue,

Just thought I would email you a couple of pics of my quilt, using your wonderful designs.  I am a friend of Vicki Purnell, she only lives a good stones throw from me.  I have made several of her wonderful quilts, using your designs.  The fabric is mostly batik, unfortunately I cannot remember the particular name of it.  Something like Lemon………..?  It has been waiting to be quilted for quite a while and I finally got around to doing it a couple of weeks ago.

Attached is a picture of candle wraps, sewn on tulle, that I made using designs from your 13th Anniversary set in 2016.  They are perfect  for this idea for stitching on tulle because they are fill stitches.

Laura’s Iris Fields

Howdy!  Happy Spring-ish. It’s 60 plus degrees in Indiana today, and supposed to snow next week.  I always feel really sad for all the early blooming flowers this time of year, ’cause you never know if they will make it to real spring or freeze trying.  With all that said, I want to show you a picture of Spring that we don’t ever have to worry about.  Thank you for your beautiful IRIS FIELDS.  The only liberty I took outside of your color list was to use a variegated green in place of the  Light Lime.  I really like how it turned out.  It reminds me of fresh cut lawn grass.  I hope you approve.  Thanks again,

After learning about embroidery en purchase a machine (Pfaff Creative Vision) and lots of try outs I now finished a quilt from your site.

Laura’s Aztec Lilies

Good morning.  Hope all is well.  Here is a pic of my latest , finished embroidery,  your design 1780, Large bouquet featuring an Aztec Lily.  Although I have done many of your large designs, for some reason, known as “User Error”, I had some problems with placement on this design.  Once one part of the design is off, all can be off.  So I’m sending this picture as proof there is magic in fabric markers!  What didn’t match up, I colored in with markers as close to the embroidery thread color as possible, and ta-da, if I didn’t tell you there had been issues, you would never know.

Also, what is hard to tell in the picture, is the background fabric is a linen blend with a metallic thread running through it.  I double-needle quilted it before doing the embroidery, much easier than doing it after, however, whether it be the metallic thread in the fabric or the the metallic thread I used to quilt the fabric, in places it shows through the stitch-out. That doesn’t interfere with the finished design too much, but I did think it was a point to use as a “learning experience”.

Early on I learned the beauty of a lot of colors of markers!  LOL The slightest thing while stitching can cause little *blips* and the markers are a much better option than starting all over again.  fortunately my current machine doesn’t do it, but  a prior machine was great for forgetting to back up after a tread break and prior (LOL) operator hated those little blips with just a few stitches missing.  The markers take care of those with just a quick touch!  Make sure you get markers that can handle being washed.

Laura’s Poppies

Finished up your poppy design.  It’s for a friend in an extended care facility.  I know it will brighten up her rather dull days.  Fairy Frost is the background for the embroidery, and the purple batik plays with it so well!  It really brings the lavender poppy to life.  Thanks again for your great designs.  Laura

Laura’s Extra Special Stained Glass Sunflowers

From Laura:program. After my brain was fighting to rearrange a couple of the squares, I followed my own advice then I re-colored some of the individual pieces to blend in with the leaves and background, using fabric markers. I used Mylar film under all the squares prior to stitching and I am so pleased with the results. Thank you again for a wonderful stitching program!

I was especially interested that laura used markers.  I’ve done this on my own things but have tended to stay away form samples for the website.  Maybe I should get a little creative!
