Pat’s Dragon

Hi Suz, attached are 2 pictures of the Dragon I completed recently, for the wall hanging competition.  It was a test stitch initially which I made into a wall hanging and gave to my husband who adores my creative work.

I’ve stitched out the file for commercial machines, I have a Janome MB4, but needed to reduce it and rotate slightly to fit my 200 x 240 mm hoop.  As always it stitched out beautifully.  I’ve used quilting cotton, Lonnie Rossi designs for Andover Fabrics from the Paint Box Range through out.  The centre fabric is pink with gold embossed Gingko Biloba leaves in the background. There is a peeper in a colour to match the tan design around the dragon’s tail then a gold and tan fabric as a 2 inch border.  I’ve used a black for the binding, the rope hanger and tassels.

I’m so pleased with the result as is my husband, he took the semi finished hanging to a group he belongs to and I ended up with orders for the design from other quilters.  I will attempt the large design next so I can play with placement and split designs.  Still not really confident with putting split designs together LOL.

Well, you all do a fantastic job on all of your design. So many great designs on your part and so little money on my part – lol. Thank you for all the contests.

Phyllis’s Japanese Garden Art Quilt

Here is my quilting contest entry. I used design BFC 1032 Japanese Fantasy Garden Art Quilt. I did alter the size of a few of the designs. I added a bridge I put together to go over the water. I used aquarium gravel for my rocks and small beads for my flowers. My effort does not do the design justice – but it is what it is.

This was my first attempt at top quilting. I did find out that it does not work well with your embroidery foot. LOL

Sue’s Floral Expressions

I just picked this up from the framer and am very happy with how it turned out! Floral Expressions #1, the largest size.😳 Completing a design such as this is not easy and though it’s not perfect, it deserves to be framed! Babylock Meridian really came through for me as IQ positioning was very helpful.  Sue

Second Photo:   Framed to match a prior piece I posted, this one is designed to look like a tiling scene upon completion. Through an intricate process of stitching individual squares and realigning the background fabric with each new tile, the process requires both precision, patience and time. This one has 9 tiles. 😳 Completing a design such as this is not easy and though it’s not perfect, it deserves to be framed!

Annette’s Tigers

Annette first stitched our Tiger in it’s normal colors, then she talked to me about doing a white tiger.  I gave her some ideas and she did a fantastic job! Please always feel free to contact me about an idea you might have or how to do something.  🙂 Suz

From Annette:    Hello, wanted to show you my tigers and wasn’t sure about blog if you did or I. I used three whites for the white tiger and as you can see i flipped him. Hope you like. The plan is to frame them but haven’t gotten that far.

I love using the different whites – they add life and substance!  Suz
