Suz about the BLOG

Hello everyone. I just realized that  have not been checking messages or replying! I have to say it’s not that obvious where to do it in Word Press (or my eyes aren’t seeing them  LOL). But I have now worked out how to easily find them and to answer rapidly!!!

HOWTO SUBMIT A PROJECT

You need to send me an email at suz@BFC-Creations.com.  This should include a message you want posted on your page with you project.  The more detailed the better!!!  Also send me the images of our project.  the highest resolution is the best so the pic will be nice and sharp on the page. And finally the name of the design(s) or a link to the page(s)  The BFC number is the best.  I’m embarrassed to tell you how long it’s taken me sometimes to find a design someone used!  It doesn’t mater if you send several messages to me to make it easier.

Roberta’s Red, Black and White Quilt

My inspiration for this quilt came from a friend. She asked if I ever went to Vicki’s blog. I went and checked it out and I was hooked. I had already downloaded all the designs, but did not have a clue what I was going to do with them.

I chose to do my quilt in Red, White and Black, as she did. Its finished size is 81 by 89 inches. I wanted it a little wider than pattern suggested, so I added an extra border on the sides only, to give me added width. Used lots of red and whites and black and whites. I have a large hoop for my embroidery machine, so was able to combine designs before stitching them. I learned a lot working in Embird software. What fun! Being able to change things around. There were no additional embellishments used. I believe they would have gotten lost in the fabrics. Designs used were, in order of use, 27,33,46,38,32,13,37,42,31,5,28,24,11,23,47.

I used a large stippling on the printed fabrics all through the quilt. Then I went through again going around the embroidered design with a much smaller stippling. I am very pleased with the end results……………….Roberta S

Sunny’s Geishas

I have Soooo many of your designs, Suz, and I just want to tell you (again) how much I love your art and digitizing.  Just HAD to download the three dance masks today and when I looked, I have at least two other folders of masks from you!  We collect masks, and we have some from every country we’ve visited – Fiji, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico – I just counted – 13!  Of course Ron had the final decision, so no wall hangings for me, just masks.  However, in my Woman Cave (spare bedroom), I do have four wall hangings – one of Geishas you designed (and the back has your Samurai Warriors!

Beautiful job Sunny!  I love that this is hanging in your Woman Cave 🙂  Suz

I usually put a link to a set used, but I thought those of you that like Geisha Artwork might like to see all of our geishas:

Judy’s Oriental Handbag

So excited to be able to share your wonderful designs for all to see.  I am submitting my “variation” of your Chinese Handbag.  As I wanted a larger tote style bag, I adapted these designs for a tote that was my own pattern.  I actually used batting under the designs and really like the look.  The layout was slightly different to get the effect I wanted and used this design for the large front pocket.  I also used a combination of folding the fabric back on one side but left the other one open flat in order to sew the inside parts together.  The pocket has a magnetic snap as does the tote itself.  I used a medium weight linen for the main sections with additional padding between the tote and the lining.  The lining is a batik cotton.  There are 5 sections within the bag, which don’t show up too well in the photo.  The embroidery thread is poly.  The only thing I would do different is add an inside zipper!  Judy

I love what you did with it!!!!  It’s so much fun for me to see where designs can go and become…Suz

Donna’s Art Quilt

Here is my entry. Hope the pictures come out OK. This one is similar to the sample you made, I just added to it a little.  I used silks, satins and velvets in shades of whites, golds and purples for the fabrics.  I used a medium weight cutaway stabilizer on the bottom and when embroidering over velvet, I added a heat away topping.  I also added a 3D lace butterfly, dragonfly and flowers. I went through my mothers old jewelry chest and used old pins to embellish along with beads and buttons. Also, for the eye of the cat, I used  a green teardrop hot fix crystal.  I added a few freebies (including the cat) that I had collected along the way. Donna

Great colors Donna! (and I love the Cat  LOL  )  Suz

Sandy’s Quilt

This quilt is made from Vickie’s quilt pattern and the designs from the 10,000 member set. It was so much fun to make since borrowed a friends embroidery machine and did the large size of the designs. As you can tell I love the bright colors. I started out with all the colors in a print I had and thought that would be the border but I should know better by now and never decide on a border until I am done as this one spoke to me instead.

Phyllis’s Japanese Garden Art Quilt

Here is my quilting contest entry. I used design BFC 1032 Japanese Fantasy Garden Art Quilt. I did alter the size of a few of the designs. I added a bridge I put together to go over the water. I used aquarium gravel for my rocks and small beads for my flowers. My effort does not do the design justice – but it is what it is.

This was my first attempt at top quilting. I did find out that it does not work well with your embroidery foot. LOL
