Hi Suz, here is my entry for your current competition.
Thanks so much for running these, they are so much fun.

Description
Vase of flowers using lots of freebies, embroidered on muslin for an antique
look.
I used some left over lace pieces from my daughter in laws wedding gown for
the corners just to enhance the embroidery.
I framed it using foamboard and a frame picked up in a sale a few years ago.

WOW! – very impressive Carol!   Suz

Great project Anne!!!   Suz

Nancy’s Baby Animal Quilt

This project was made for a 3 year old grandson.  He has lots of friends and needed new ones.  Adding names to the animals will help him learn who his friends are. I used snow babies, African babies and  woodland babies.

I tend to choose designs and then look for fabric.  This project the first two choices in fabric did not work.  Over the years I have learned that fabric and projects talk.  It helps to have a stash to turn to when things don’t go as you planned. Thread choices are a combination of BFC and Admelody.  A fun project that will look good on a grandsons bed. Thanks Suz for great designs.

Carolyn’s Sally King Shoe Quilt

Attached is my version of the Sally King’s Calendar Shoes 2013. Quilt is for daughter-in-law who chose the golds and teal colors for their wedding.  Ironically, the most difficult part was the corner blocks.   The finishing touch was the metallic gold clasp stitch on the design fabric which also matches the gold flecked backing and block pieces .

Great design Carolyn – I love all the piecing!  Suz

Martha’s Wisteria Picture

I wish to submit the following for consideration in the Quilting Contest you are sponsoring on the Yahoo Group. The work is “Wisteria” using BFC890 by the same name. This was embroidered on white cotton (Kona cotton from Robert Kaufman). It was finished with a purple batik for the borders, backing and binding. I also added a layer of DreamPoly as batting. There was light quilting with black thread at the borders of each embroidery block and around the final embroidery boundary and also light quilting of the final border to hold all layers together.

Unfortunately I no longer have this piece. It was donated to our local St. Vincent de Paul Society for their 150th Anniversary Gala for a silent auction which was two days after I finished the piece. I was lucky to get a good picture of it first! I’m going to have to stitch this one out again so I have one for myself (if I don’t donate that one to someone else).

I hope you eventually were able to do one of these for yourself martha – you did a gorgeous job!   Suz

Sandy’s Bright and Wonderful Qult

This quilt is made from Vickie’s quilt pattern and the designs from the 10,000 member set. It was so much fun to make since borrowed a friends embroidery machine and did the large size of the designs. As you can tell I love the bright colors. I started out with all the colors in a print I had and thought that would be the border but I should know better by now and never decide on a border until I am done as this one spoke to me instead.

Betty’s Quilt with Sally’s Shoes

This is the first time I have entered any of your contests.  This is also the first time I have done a large quilt.  This is a twin size quilt for one of my grandchildren.  I have 6 of them and 5 of them are girls.
I have bought several designs from your site but when I first saw the Sally King shoes I fell in love with them.  I used the Sally King Calendar Shoes 2014 part 1 & 2 to do this quilt.  I have since bought the other sets and will be making another quilt since my little girls love shoes.  The ice cream shoe has been tweaked a little since I took off the milk shake portion of it in my software.  It was just a little much and I liked it better without the shake on the end of the shoe.
When I started sewing out the designs I put them on different colors of fabric looking at the thread  colors I was going to use in the shoes.  Some of the shoes are done in different colors then were selected by the designer and to me that is the creative part of sewing.  When I was all done I had all these different colored blocks to try and put in one quilt.  I then had to find a color for my sashings  and border that went with all the designs.  I will do the next quilt different since I learned what not to do with this one.  But it was so much fun stitching them out I kind of got carried away.
They are all stitched on a good quality cotton fabric.  The gal that quilted the quilt (Cheryl Ferris) looked at each design and quilted around each design pulling in the theme of each shoe.  She did a fantastic job on it I thought.
So now for the pictures.  Hope you enjoy this quilt.   Betty
